In compliance with the United Behavioral Health Care Advocacy Policy, all Optum clinical personnel who use their professional clinical credentials within the context of their job responsibilities, including those who are involved in the clinical review process, are to be currently licensed in their respective discipline, and/or are to possess a current certificate or registration from a professional credentialing board in the United States. Clinical personnel who conduct clinical reviews hold an active, unrestricted license and board certification as a psychiatrist or addictionologist, or an unrestricted license as a doctoral-level psychologist, and are appointed by the Regional Medical Director or a senior clinical vice president/director to conduct peer reviews. By May 31 of each year, the Corporate Quality Management Department conducts an annual audit of the credentials verification of clinical personnel for accuracy and completeness.

In compliance with the UnitedHealth Group conflict of interest policy employees may not engage in any activities, including outside employment, that conflict or appear to conflict with their responsibilities to and interest of UnitedHealth Group.
